The first Regional programme about road safety (Regional Programme 2004-2005) was developed to implement the Fist Annual Programme of the National road safety plan (Programma di attuazione 2002).

In Piedmont it was decided to choose the way of the consultation process, involving the local government. In the end of the process, they were selected two groups of actions: pilot projects about infrastructure, along regional roads no. 10, 11 and 20, and supporting actions, such as education, information, etc.
